Scott Little

Scott Little is in his 25th year at Belhaven University and has served as Director of Athletics since 2007. As Vice President and Director of Athletics, he provides leadership and oversight to seventeen sports programs and nearly 400 student-athletes in the areas of personnel, academic support, recruiting, compliance, eligibility, budget management, development, and event management. From 2008-2021, his Vice Presidential duties also included oversight of the Division of Student Development.

Little gave primary leadership to Belhaven University's 2014 move to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Division III membership, in conjunction with a move to the American Southwest Conference (ASC). He also led Belhaven as a founding member of the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) in and the USA South Conference (USAS) in 2022. The USA South is the conference home for the sport of football, while the CCS is the conference home for the sports of men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, men's cross country, women's cross country, women's basketball, men's basketball, women's indoor track & field, men's indoor track & field, softball, baseball, women's tennis, men's tennis, men's golf, women's outdoor track and field, and men's outdoor track & field.


Under Little’s leadership, the Belhaven University Athletics Department has achieved success both on the field and in the classroom. Notable athletics accomplishments during his tenure include: The 2012 Men's Soccer NAIA National Championship; NCAA national postseason berths for softball and men's track & field in the department's first year of NCAA active membership opportunity (2021); An 2nd place finish at the NCAA Division III Women's College World Series, two 2nd place NCCAA Softball World Series finishes (2016/2018), plus a 3rd place NAIA Softball National Tournament finish (2011);

New conference affiliation as a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), the American Southwest Conference (ASC), and most recently the Collegiate Conference of the OUth (CCS) and the USA South Conference (USAS); the highest Athletics Department finishes in the Learfield Sports Director’s Cup Standings; yearly designation as a NAIA 5 Star Champions of Character institution; increased academic achievement among athletes as academic department award winners and 3.0 Club achievers; the construction of Belhaven Bowl Stadium in the historic Belhaven Bowl campus location; the launch of men's and women's track and field and construction of an on-campus track & field facility; implementation of facility improvements for softball, football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s tennis; first-ever World Series (Baseball in 2010) and National Tournament (softball, women’s basketball) appearances in Belhaven history; returns to the National Tournament for men’s soccer, men’s basketball and men's tennis; development of a new Athletics brand identity, and the launch of a new Athletics website.

He is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and serves on the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Committee. He was named 2012 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) AD of the Year, is a past Vice President of the NAIA Athletic Directors Association (NAIA ADA), former SSAC representative for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA), and has also served on the NAIA National Administrative Council (NAC).

A native of Alabama, he earned his Bachelors degree from the University of Mobile, and his Masters degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Scott, his wife and family reside in the Jackson area.
