Belhaven University

Belhaven University, a Christ-centered university located in Jackson, MS, is receiving

applications for the position of Head Athletic Trainer. The Head Athletic Trainer provides

primary leadership for the health, safety and well-being of Belhaven University student-athletes

as they train, practice and compete.

The Head Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Vice President and Director of Athletics.

Belhaven is an NCAA Division III institution sponsoring eighteen sport programs and

holding conference membership in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) and the

USA South Conference (USAS). Belhaven University is also a member of the Council of

Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will carry out responsibilities

related to the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries;

supervise and mentor both professional and student staff; implement therapeutic exercise

programs and utilize therapeutic modalities; oversee student-athlete insurance processes and

work with local health care providers; maintain accurate, secure records in accordance with

HIPPA regulations; direct and supervise CPR/AED training and certification for athletics

staff; adhere to NATA and state laws of practice related to athletic training; perform other

duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIRMENTS: A minimum of five years of athletic training experience,

including service in an intercollegiate athletic setting; a minimum of three years of

supervisory experience of athletic training staff; graduate of a CAATE program; BOC

certified; eligible for State of Mississippi licensure; CPR/AED certified; effective verbal and

written communication skills; demonstrated capacity for accuracy and organization; sound

interpersonal skills 

in working with athletes, coaches, families, departmental staff, and

university personnel; full support of the mission and vision of the University, as well as

alignment with its Statement of Faith (http://www.belhaven.edu/belhaven/mission.htm).

The Head Athletic Trainer is a full-time, salaried position with competitive pay, vacation,

and holiday offerings. Benefit packages are also available to include health, dental, vision,

retirement, and more. Reimbursement for professional development (Licensure, CEU’s,

dues, etc.) is also available.
