Johnathan Comer Headshot 2025

Jonathan Comer

Jonathan Comer enters his first season as an assistant coach with Belhaven Men's Basketball in 2025 after five years of success coaching high school basketball in Mississippi.

At Belhaven, Comer will contribute to all aspects of the men's basketball program, bringing a proven record of program-building, player-development and community engagement.

A native of Caledonia, Mississippi, Comer began his collegiate career as a shooting guard at East Central Community College, where he competed from 2014-16. He then transferred to Mississippi State University, earning his Business Administration degree in 2018.

Before arriving at Belhaven, Comer built an impressive high school coaching resumé, winning 70% of his games across five seasons. He began at South Pontotoc (2020-21) before returning home to lead the program at Caledonia High School (2021-25). During his tenure, he guided the Cavaliers to historic peaks, including back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in 21 years. In 2024, his squad reached the Sweet 16 for the first time in 15 years, hosted their first home playoff game in 18 years, and secured a Division runner-up finish - the program's first in two decades.

He also organized the inaugural Steel Dynamics Cavalier Classic, which quickly became a premier high school basketball event in the region.

Comer and his wife, Kathryn, have one son, Caden.
