Steven Simmons is in his second season as a member of the coaching staff for the Belhaven Men's Soccer program. Simmons begins his first year as a graduate assistant coach under head coach Carl Griffiths. Simmons served the Blazers as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2014 season.

Prior to joining the coaching staff, the Liverpool, England native spent his senior season with the Blazers in 2013, playing on the back line for the Green and Gold. Simmons played in 16 games for Belhaven and helped to contribute to six cleansheets as the Blazers went 12-3-1 in games he played in.

Prior to his arrival to Jackson, Simmons spent two seasons at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. While with the Statesmen, Simmons helped DSU to its first ever postseason appearance and into the Gulf South Conference Championship with two goals against top-ranked West Florida. Simmons was named the 2012 GSC Tournament Most Valuable Player and also was recognized as an All-GSC First Team and NSCAA All-South Region selection.

In two years at Delta State, the team captain played in 35 games with eight goals and seven assists. Simmons finished his time at DSU in the top 10 list all time in points, goals, assists, shots and shots on goal. He was also named to the All-GSC Second Team in 2011.

Prior to DSU, Simmons played one season at Waldorf College starting in 14 games for the 2010 season, scoring two goals and recording two assists. He was recognized with All-Conference First-Team honors, becoming the first ever male athlete to receive First Team All-Conference honors at the school.

Simmons graduated from Belhaven University in December 2014, receiving his Bachelors Degree in Sports Management with a concentration in coaching. He is currently working toward a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Steven is the son of Anthony and Janette Simmons. He has three brothers; Craig, Sean and Liam.
