Belhaven University Athletics

Matt Smith joins the Belhaven Men's Soccer coaching staff after concluding a successful collegiate playing career that featured national tournament appearances at both the junior college and NCAA levels.

Smith began his collegiate career at Jones College, helping the Bobcats reach the 2022 NJCAA National Tournament before transferring to Belhaven, where he was part of the first NCAA National Tournament appearance in school history. Smith served as a team captain at both Jones College and Belhaven during his collegiate career.

Alongside his collegiate experience, Smith has coached with Mississippi Rush Soccer Club, where he has helped develop youth players while continuing to grow as a coach. Smith brings a strong understanding of the Belhaven program and a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field.

A native of Laurel, Mississippi, Smith received a Bachelor's degree from Belhaven University in leadership and coaching. He Currently holds his USSF Grassroots license.
