Jonny Ellis

Jonny Ellis enters his eighth season on the Belhaven Women's Soccer coaching staff and sixth as the Assistant Women's Soccer Coach.

Ellis took over the role of top assistant for the Belhaven Women's Soccer program ahead of the 2020-21 campaign and has helped elevate the program to new heights over the past five seasons. Ellie and the Blazers have seen a particularly good stretch over the past three seasons in which they have reached the semfinal or final of the CCS Tournament in each campaign.

In both 2023 and 2024, the Blazers have posted back to back thirteen win seasons which marks the most wins across a two season stretch for the program since 2001-02. During Ellis' time with the program, he also helped coach over 30 total All-Conference players across both the Collegiate Conference of the South and American Southwest Conference as well as a pair of United Soccer Coaches All-Region players in Kaci Craft (2023) and Emma Antonoplos (2024).

Prior to becoming the Assistant Women's Soccer Coach, Ellis spent two seasons as the Graduate Assistant Coach for both the Men's and Women's Soccer programs at Belhaven.

Ellis was previously the New England Assistant Regional Director for the soccer coaching organization, YESsoccer as well as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Bridgeport (CT) Women’s team. Ellis has coached club and premier soccer in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

Ellis holds his UEFA C license as well as his Level 1 in Futsal and USSF C license.

Ellis holds a Bachelor’s in Coaching and Physical Education from the University of St. Mark & St John (Plymouth, UK) and he received his Master's of Science in Leadership from Belhaven University in May 2020.
