Alex Ainsworth is in his fifth season as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Belhaven University. In three previous seasons, he has helped coach the Blazers to 44 victories under former head coach John Aiken and current head coach Jonathan Vines.
During his tenure, he has helped coach seven All-Conference athletes and two All-Americans.
Ainsworth joined the Belhaven coaching staff after serving the previous six years in Student Affairs as Belhaven’s Coordinator of Intramurals.
The Florence, Miss. native played three seasons for the Blazers from 2003-2006. He earned a degree in Sports Administration with a minor in History.
“I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Belhaven basketball again", commented Ainsworth. "As an alumnus, I feel honored to help lead the Blazer Basketball Program.”
