Steve Carson is entering his second year as Defensive Coordinator for the Belhaven football program. With over three decades of coaching experience, including stints with nine different college programs and multiple professional organizations, Coach Carson has been recognized for many different accomplishments during that time. He was named the KJCCC Coach of the Year in 2010 while directing the program at Independence Community College in Independence, KS and was also part of the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002.
With unique experience of coaching in NFL Europe, Coach Carson was the defensive coordinator for the World Bowl Champions, Berlin, in 2007. He was also the defensive coordinator for the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe in 2007. Along with many other stops during his coaching journey, Carson has coached at UNC-Pembroke (2006), Liberty University (2003-2005), Tampa Bay Bucs (2001-2002), Orlando Rage of the XFL (2001-2002), Humboldt State (1995), Fort Pierce HS, FL (1994), Rutgers University (1990-1993), East Tennessee State University (1993), University of Wisconsin (1985-1986), and Montana State University (1984).
Coach Steve Carson has a proven track record of engineering great defenses, being a tireless recruiter and an effective head coach. He most recently has served as an NFL player evaluator for the Pro Coaches Network, grading players on production and techniques.
Coach Carson is a graduate of Drake University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He also completed his Masters Degree in Physical Education at Eastern Illinois University.
