Maya Callender begins her first season as the Football Operations Graduate Assistant at Belhaven University.
Callender comes to Belhaven from Utica College in Utica, N.Y., where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in May 2016.
Callender worked for the Utica football team in several different roles during her time with the Pioneers. From August 2012 through May 2016 she served as the manager for the football team - organizing travel plans, assisting with game day operations, leading tours for recruits and assisting with fundraising and volunteer events.
Callender also served as the social media coordinator for the Utica football team for two seasons. She managed several different social media accounts for the team, assisted the school’s Assistant Athletic Director in creating promotional materials and provided advice to players on the importance of what should and should not be posted on their personal social media accounts.
Additionally, Callender has experience with the Fordham University football program and the ECAC North Central Bowl Game.She has also worked as a social media and marketing intern for Evins Communications.
At Belhaven, Maya is responsible for assisting the Director of Football Operations with team travel, budget control, social media and other operations support. Originally from New York City, Maya plans on completing her Master’s in Sports Administration and one day becoming a Director of Football Operations.Â
