Carson Stewart is entering his sixth season on staff as the Quarterbacks and Wide Receivers coach and his third season as the Offensive Coordinator.
Under Stewart's guidance, the Blazers' offense was among the nation's best in 2022. The offensive attack broke several school records en route to the winningest season in program history. The Blazers ran for a single-season record of 2,870 yards and 30 touchdowns while throwing for 23 more through the air.
Belhaven also broke the record for points per game in 2022 with 38.0 PPG. The Blazers tied single-game records in points (70) and touchdowns (10) in a win over LaGrange while breaking the total yards (702) and rushing yards (492) marks just two weeks prior.
In his first season as Offensive Coordinator for the Blazers, Stewart saw four offensive players named to the All-ASC First Team and two players named to D3football.com's All-Region III Teams.
Brad Foley and Mayowa Asagunla as well as offensive linemen Kendrioun Boatman and David Turner earned the top all-conference honors. Cole McAlpin and Kolbe Blunt both earned All-ASC Second Team honors in the fall of 2021 while Michael Simpson and Brooks Brymer were both recognized on the Honorable Mention list. Also in 2021 running back Brad Foley was named to the All-Region III First Team Offense while offensive lineman David Turner was named to the All-Region III Second Team Offense.
Stewart mentored starting Quarterback Mayowa Asagunla in the Spring 2021 Season as the ASC leader in completion percentage with 67% of his passes being completed which landed him on the American Southwest All-Conference teams.
Prior to taking over the Quarterbacks in 2020, Stewart spent two years as a Graduate Assistant coaching the Wide Receivers where he tutored American Southwest All-Conference Wide Receivers Mario Asagunla and Joey Walden who is currently playing in the German Football League for the Langenfeld Longhorns.
During Stewart's four years at Belhaven, he has also coached seven Academic All-Conference players.
Prior to Belhaven, Stewart spent three years coaching football at Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, MD under the direction of Head Coach, Todd Appel. During Stewart’s time there, he assisted the Sentinels in winning two straight MD 1A State Championships and three State Championship appearances in a row. Stewart had multiple roles coaching various positions on the offensive and defensive side of the ball while at Fort Hill.
Stewart is a graduate of Frostburg State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education.
Stewart comes from a coaching family as he as a cousin, Chad Wilt, who coaches the Defensive Line at Indiana University, an uncle, Steve Wilt, who coaches the Defensive Backs and Special Teams at The University of Saint Francis, and another uncle, Randy Stewart who coaches football at Fort Hill High School.
Stewart is from Gaithersburg, MD and is a graduate of Quince Orchard High School. Stewart has a sister, Lauren, and two loving parents, Vince and Jody.
