Aaron Wood is entering his fifth year in the Belhaven Athletics Department as the Director of Strength and Conditioning. Aaron was appointed to the position on January 9, 2019.
Aaron is a native of Richmond, Virginia, and brings with him experience both in the ASC and at the Division 1 level. Coach Wood comes to Belhaven after spending the past year at ASC member institution Hardin-Simmons University. While at HSU Coach Wood worked in the Strength and Conditioning department working primarily with baseball and football.
Prior to his time in Abilene, Coach Wood worked at the University of Minnesota under iconic Strength Coach Cal Dietz where he served both the Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey teams. While in Minnesota Coach Wood spent a great deal of time working with numerous professional and Olympic athletes from the United States, Canada, Norway, and Finland.
Coach Wood’s also spent a great deal of time working for Elkin Sports Performance based out of Richmond, Va. While there he helped train numerous high school and club programs. He also spent time training NFL athletes that include Anthony Harris of the Minnesota Vikings, Maurice Canady of the Dallas Cowboys, Jake McGee of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and David Watford of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Aaron is a 2014 graduate of Liberty University. Aaron also spent time at Liberty working and studying under world renowned Master Strength Coach Bill Gillespie. While at Liberty, he helped train the Big South Champion Liberty Football team as well as the Liberty Flame baseball team, which made an appearance in the NCAA tournament.
Coach Wood holds numerous certifications and has a degree from Liberty University in Exercise Science.
