SHERMAN, TX. - Belhaven Volleyball dropped a pair of matches Friday at Austin College, falling in straight sets to Concordia (TX) before taking a set from host Austin College in the nightcap.

Tarryn Woodall led the Blazers with 35 kills across the two matches. Megan LaCour added 14 kills and 23 digs on the day.

Belhaven held a 31-30 advantage in kills against Concordia, but the Tornados capitalized on eight service aces and 27 Blazer attack errors to earn the 25-15, 25-22, 25-18 win.

Woodall finished with a match-high 18 kills on 39 swings for a .282 hitting percentage. Mickeyla Sitsler added four kills and hit .250, while Maggie Joy Tomlin handed out 25 assists. Kayla Robinson led the back row with 12 digs and recorded Belhaven's lone ace. LaCour chipped in nine digs.

After falling behind 11-6 in the opening set, the Blazers used a four-point run behind two Woodall kills and a Goldie Lowe kill to pull within one. Concordia regained control and scored the final six points of the set.

Belhaven made a late charge in the second. Trailing 23-17, the Blazers scored five straight points to cut the deficit to one. Woodall had two kills during the run, but Concordia answered with the final two points to take the set.

The Blazers opened the third with a 4-1 lead and held a 5-3 advantage before the Tornados put together seven unanswered points. Belhaven responded with five straight, capped by a Woodall kill and a block from Cami Davis and Woodall, to tie the set at 10-10. Concordia broke an 11-11 tie with a six-point run and went on to close out the match.

Belhaven bounced back in the nightcap to take a set from unbeaten Austin College before the host Kangaroos pulled away for a 25-18, 15-25, 25-21, 25-14 victory.

Woodall recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 11 digs. LaCour added a double-double of her own with 12 kills and a team-high 14 digs. Laila Gauthier turned in a career-high eight kills on 25 attempts and hit .240. Tomlin finished with 31 assists and eight digs, while Robinson and Lowe collected 11 digs apiece.

The Blazers matched Austin College with 40 kills and held a 61-59 edge in digs. The Kangaroos made the difference at the service line, finishing with 12 aces.

Belhaven led 11-8 in the first set before Austin College scored 12 consecutive points to take control.

The Blazers answered in the second. With Belhaven holding a 15-14 lead, three Austin College errors and a Sitsler block sparked a five-point run. After the Kangaroos briefly stopped the run, Belhaven scored the final five points to take the set, 25-15. The Blazers held Austin College to a -.108 hitting percentage in the frame.

The third set featured eight ties and three lead changes. Belhaven used a four-point run to move ahead 10-8 and later pulled even at 14-14. Austin College scored the next three points and held off a late Blazer push to win the set.

The Kangaroos jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the fourth and finished the match with a .308 hitting percentage in the final set.

Belhaven (0-3) continues its road swing Saturday in Irving, Texas. The Blazers face Paul Quinn at 11 a.m. before taking on the University of Dallas at 3 p.m.
