CONWAY, Ark. - Four different Blazers scored this weekend as Belhaven defeated Hendrix, 4-2, at Warrior Soccer Field for the squad's third straight win.
Justin Ramirez stopped a Josh Montgomery shot just over two minutes into the match. Belhaven took the lead at 5:11 when
Ciaran Colvin scored off an assist from
Ricardo Flores. The Blazers kept pressing:
Adrian Sanchez forced two saves six seconds apart in the 14th minute, and
Wyatt Dupre put another shot on target in the 20th.
Zachary Howard doubled the lead at 38:15, scoring from a
Tyler Milioto assist to send Belhaven into halftime ahead, 2-0.
Diego Sarzalejo made it 3-0 with an unassisted goal at 58:40.
Montgomery pulled one back for Hendrix in the 72nd minute, and Dylan Cruthers hit the crossbar five minutes later. Belhaven answered at 82:23 when
Gabriel Glatt scored off a pass from Sanchez. Montgomery added a second goal for Hendrix with 1:28 remaining.
Belhaven outshot Hendrix, 20-10, and held a 10-5 edge in shots on goal. The Blazers also earned 10 corner kicks to Hendrix's seven. Sanchez led Belhaven with seven shots and an assist, while Ramirez made two saves in 90 minutes.
Belhaven heads back on the road, for a midweek tilt in Memphis to face Rhodes on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 3:30 p.m.
