MARSHALL, Texas - The Belhaven Volleyball team picked up their first win on the 2025 season Saturday as they split a doubleheader during the final day of the ETBU Invite. The Blazers took down the University of Dallas 3-1 for their win before eventually falling to hosts ETBU later in the day.
In the win over Dallas, the Blazers picked up a comeback victory in the opening set having trailed early by seven points. Midway through the opening set, the Blazers trailed 17-11 but from that point, went on a 14-4 run to take an early advantage.Â
The Blazers would extend to a two set lead in another tightly contested, this time outlasting Dallas 28-26 despite trailing 24-21 late in the set. The back and forth battle would continue as Dallas picked up the third set 25-21.Â
In the fourth set, the Blazers would put Dallas away quickly though, taking control midway through and pulling away for a 25-15 final set win and grabbing the important victory.
In the win over the University of Dallas,
Miriam Ateca and first year player
Allie Dahlman both tallied 23 assists as they helped create plenty of attack for the Blazers.
Megan LaCour tallied a team-high 14 kills while
Kylarr Martin and
Corinne Cason both finished with double-digit kills recording 12 apiece.
Defensively,
Kayla Robinson led the way with 24 digs while LaCour and Dahlman each also finished with double digit digs.Â
Next up for the Blazers is a trip to Columbus, Mississippi on Tuesday where Belhaven will face in-state rival MUW. The match against the Owls is set to begin at 6:00 PM.
