MARSHALL, Texas - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team suffered their first defeat of the season on Friday as they lost 1-0 to a late goal against Southwestern in a neutral site matchup in Marshall, Texas.
The Blazers and Pirates battled to a scoreless first half with
Addi Roberts tallying three saves while the Belhaven attack generated a pair of shots on target. In the second half, the deadlock continued as both teams traded a couple of scoring chances without finding a breakthrough.
Southwestern would eventually get that breakthrough in the 85th minute as they scored the eventual winner late on in the contest.
Jensen Ward showed a strong performance off the bench, tallying four shots including two on target while Roberts finished the match with five saves.
The Blazers will look to bounce back later this weekend as they face off against the University of St. Thomas in another neutral site matchup hosted at ETBU.
