MARYVILLE, Tenn. — The Belhaven Volleyball team wrapped up a road doubleheader on Saturday with a split, falling to Maryville in the opener before bouncing back with a four-set victory over Piedmont in the afternoon. The Blazers improved to 5-10 overall and 1-2 in Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) play.
Match 1:Â Â Belhaven 0, Maryville 3
A year after defeating Maryville for the first time in program history, the Blazers fell to the Scots 16-25, 9-25, 16-25. Rylee White led the team with five kills on .500 hitting percentage and two aces. Megan LaCour tallied four kills, and Kylarr Martin & Corinne Cason each contributed three kills. Kayla Robinson collected 10 digs in the back row.
Match 2:Â Belhaven 3, Piedmont 1
The Blazers responded in the second match with a four-set victory, collecting their first CCS win of the season. They finished with 59 kills with a .161 hitting percentage. Both teams won a set each heading into the third set, where the Blazers took the final two. Four Blazers had at least 10 kills, led by White and LaCour who each had 11, and Cason & Kylarr Martin, who had 10 apiece. Allie Dahlman set a career-best with 26 assists and 15 digs. Miriam Ateca set a season-high with 23 assists and 12 digs.
The Blazers return to Rugg Arena on Wednesday for its next match against Mississippi University for Women on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
