MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Belhaven Volleyball dropped a road contest on Tuesday night, falling to Rhodes in straight sets (21-25, 17-25, 22-25) inside Mallory Gymnasium.
The Blazers trailed for most of the first set, but never get the lead to more than five points. A late 3-0 run got the team to 19-20 before Rhodes answered with a 3-0 run of their own to give them the momentum to take the opening set.
Belhaven trailed by as many as 10 in the second set before a 5-0 run with four kills closed the gap to six points. The Lynx ended the set with three of the last four points to take a 2-0 lead.
The Blazers trailed by as many as eight points, before a few scoring runs closed the gap to 15-17. Rhodes responded with a 4-0 run of their own, but Belhaven went on a 5-0 run to trail just 22-23. Rhodes scored two straight points to end the set and take the match 3-0.
Megan LaCour led the team with eight kills, while
Tarryn Woodall set a career-high six kills and seven points. Reigning CCS Defensive Player of the Week
Kayla Robinson had 15 digs.
The Blazers are back in action this Saturday at Jackson Prep in a doubleheader. They will take on LaGrange at 12:00 PM. followed by LeTourneau at 4:00 PM.
