JACKSON - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team cruised to a 9-0 win over Tougaloo on Tuesday behind a hat trick from
Alexis Whiting, the first of her Belhaven career.
Whiting got the scoring goal in just the 6th minute as she found the back of the net from a cross from
Kelly McLaughlin.
Mia Kate Cade would then double the Belhaven lead just eight minutes later with her first of the season.
Whiting then made it two goals in two minutes for Belhaven and gave the Blazers a 3-0 lead before an own goal in the 17th minute added another Belhaven tally.
Faith Dreyer scored the first goal of her Belhaven career in the 19th minute before
Kelly McLaughlin got on the score sheet in the 21st and capped off a goal frenzy first half for the Blazers.
In the second half, Whiting opened the scoring again and grabbed her hat trick in 26 minutes of action on the night. McLaughlin got her brace just before the hour mark before
Melanie Echols wrapped up the day with the Blazers ninth goal of the night. The match would end at 70 minutes as agreed upon by both coaching staffs.
The win improves the Blazers to 3-2-2 on the season and grabs their fourth clean sheet of the season. Next up for the Blazers is the start of conference play as the team heads to Georgia to face Covenant in a CCS opener on Saturday.
