Belhaven Picks Up 2-0 Win Over Pensacola Christian

JACKSON– The Belhaven Men's Soccer team picked up its third win of the season with a 2-0 shutout over Pensacola Christian on Saturday evening at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.

The Blazers wasted little time getting ahead as Wesley Bloodworth continued his strong start to the season, scoring his fourth goal of the year in just the 6th minute off a setup from CJ Koppeis. Belhaven dominated possession throughout the half, firing 14 shots which included forcing the Eagles' goalkeeper into six saves, but carried just the 1-0 lead into halftime.

The second half saw more of the same, with Belhaven pressuring the Eagle defense and creating chances including having a couple of shots that beat the keeper but were cleared off the line.

The breakthrough came in the 70th minute with Courtland Williams sliding one under the goalkeeper for his first of the season and following a pass from Wyatt Dupre to double the advantage.

The Blazers racked up 33 total shots, including 15 on target, while holding Pensacola Christian to just five attempts and none on frame. The defensive effort gave goalkeeper Charlton McMorris a quiet night as he recorded the clean sheet without needing a save.

With the victory, Belhaven improved to 3-1-1 on the season. The Blazers will return to action next week as they are set to face Rhodes at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium on Tuesday. Kickoff against the Lynx is set for 4:00 PM.
