JACKSON, Miss. — Belhaven Women's Volleyball battled rival Millsaps on Friday night, but the Majors claimed a 3-1 victory (19-25, 25-20, 25-27, 18-25).
The Majors got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 9-2 lead to start the match. The Blazers cut the deficit to 15-19, but Millsaps made a late run to take the first set.
The Blazers responded with energy and never trailed in the second set. The highlight of the set came when the Majors tied the set at 16. Belhaven scored six of the next seven points, before closing out the set with a 25-20 win.
The Blazers fought in the pivotal third set, behind a combined 11 kills in the frame. The set featured nine ties and three lead changes. Belhaven led 24-22 late before Millsaps scored six of the last seven points to lead 2-1 in the match.
The fourth set saw Millsaps go on several scoring runs that would give the Majors the 3-1 match victory.
Megan LaCour recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs, Rylee White and Jordyn Crenshaw each had eight digs while Kayla Robinson added 21 digs.
The Blazers open their home slate with two matches tomorrow at 10:00 AM vs. McMurry and 2:00 PM vs. Centenary.
