JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team opened the 2025 campaign with a decisive 5-0 victory over Centenary (La.) on Friday evening at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
The Blazers struck early and never looked back, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime before adding three more goals in the second half to secure the shutout win in comfortable fashion.
Lauren Snell led the attack with two goals and an assist, finding the back of the net early int he first half and early in the second half, while also setting up the Blazers' final goal of the night. Micah Benson added a goal and an assist of her own, scoring in the 46th minute after assisting on Snell's opener.
Jensen Ward rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 61st minute, and Belhaven also benefited from a Centenary own goal in the opening half. Emma Antonoplos recorded an assist in the second half to cap a balanced performance from the Blazers' midfield.
Belhaven's defense was equally strong, limiting the Ladies to just four shots in total. Goalkeepers Ella Field and Addi Roberts combined for the clean sheet, with Field collecting one save in the first half and Roberts adding two after the break. The Blazers finished the match with a 21-4 advantage in shots and a 6-1 margin in corner kicks showcasing their dominance.
Belhaven will return to action on Wednesday when they host LeTourneau in a continuation of non-conference action. Kickoff against the YellowJackets is set for 5:00 PM.
