Blazers Take Down Maryville, Fall to Huntingdon in CCS Tournament

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Belhaven Baseball team split a pair of CCS Tournament games on Sunday, taking down Maryville, 10-4, before falling in the first game of the championship round to Huntingdon by a final of 2-1.

Game One vs. Maryville (W, 10-4)

The Blazers jumped on the hosts in the opening frame, plating five runs to take command early. JD Weed's RBI groundout in the 6th pushed the lead out to 6-0 heading into the home half of the inning.

After Maryville got on the board in the 6th and added three more in the 8th, Belhaven exploded for a four-run 9th, highlighted by a Parker Ryan single to right that scored three to put the Blazers in front by a score of 10-4.

Freshman righty John Wade closed to the door to send the Green and Gold to the CCS Tournament Championship with his third save of the season. Starter Gunner Staten stepped in a big spot for the Blazers, going 6.0 innings and scattering three hits while allowing just one run to earn the win.
