PEARL, Miss. - The Belhaven Baseball team earned a hard-fought 4-1 win over Millsaps in Game Two of the Cowboy Maloney Series to knot the series up at a game apiece. The decisive third game is set for April 15th at Trustmark Park.
Belhaven got things going early after
Eli Britt singled and stole second, setting the table for a two-out RBI single from
Hayden Roberts in the second inning. Millsaps tied the game in the fifth with an RBI base hit.
The two teams traded scoring threats but were unable to cash in until the eighth. Belhaven found the breakthrough after the first three of the inning reached for pinch-hitter
Owen Abney. Abney laced a two-run single through the right side to put the Blazers up 3-1.
Roberts hit a sacrifice fly a couple of batters later to add an insurance run heading into the final frame. After a pair of Majors reached in the ninth,
Lane Alack induced a flyout to right to finish the ballgame and earn his third save of the season.
