MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Belhaven put on an offensive clinic in their dominant 19-3 win over Maryville on Saturday in the series finale on conference opening weekend. The Blazers exploded for 19 runs on 14 hits, showcasing their firepower early and often throughout the game.

The scoring started in the first inning when Hunter Harrell's RBI single plated JD Weed. After a scoreless second, Belhaven took control in the third. Weed led the charge with a solo home run, followed by a barrage of RBI hits that gave the Blazers a 5-0 lead.

The floodgates opened in the fourth and fifth innings, where Belhaven added 13 more runs, highlighted by a triple from Weed, a two-run single by Blake McCarthy, and four bases-loaded walks which came in the fifth. The Blazers capitalized on Maryville's pitching struggles, drawing 10 walks overall and taking advantage of multiple hit batters.

JD Weed was a standout performer, going 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBIs, a double, a triple, and a home run. Freshman Austin Canale was strong at the top of the Blazers' lineup going 4-6 with a pair of runs scored and a pair of runs driven in. Hunter Harrell added a two-hit, three-RBI performance, while Blake McCarthy and Hayden Roberts each drove in three runs as well.

On the mound, Colton Sylvester (2-1) was stellar, allowing just one run on six hits over six innings while striking out two.

With the win, Belhaven improves to 11-7 on the season and pick up their first conference victory of the season. Next up is a midweek bout against Stevens on Wednesday before hosting Piedmont for their first home conference series of the season this upcoming weekend.
