Blazers Seal Series Win at Berry

MT. BERRY, Ga. - The Belhaven Baseball team secured a series win over Berry on Saturday as they split a doubleheader following their victory in Friday's opener. The Blazers bounced back from a 12-9 defeat to open the day with win 3-1 in the finale.

Game One vs Berry (Loss, 12-9)

The Belhaven bats got off to a hot start in the opening game of the day, striking for a pay of runs in the top of the first. Berry's bats though were quick to respond, scratching across three runs in the home half of the same frame and adding two more in the second.

Parker Ryan blasted a two-run homer in the fourth to pull Belhaven within a run but the hosts responded with a seven run inning. Belhaven battled back, scoring twice in the fifth and three more in the seventh but the deficit proved too much to overcome.

Key Performances

Owen Abney: 3-5
Parker Ryan: 1-5, HR, 3 RBI
Tristan Pearson: 1-4, 2 RBI

Game Two vs. Berry (Win, 3-1)

The second game of the day would be the rubber match between to the two program and followed a different script from the high-scoring action in the first two games. Berry would strike first, driving in a run in the third.

Kade May was stellar on the mound for the Blazers despite the early run, shutting down the Vikings the remainder of the way and allowing just five hits on tne day. Belhaven got the offense they needed in the top of the sixth when JD Weed, who hit a grand slam in Friday's series opener, blasted a three-run homer to put the Blazers in front.

May would close out the game, which was a scheduled seven-inning contest, and pick up a crucial non-conference series victory for the Blazers.

Key Performances

Kade May (W, 2-0): 7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 K
JD Weed: 1-3, HR , 3 RBI
