JACKSON - Belhaven capped off the regular season in impressive fashion, blowing out Agnes Scott (3-22, 2-14 CCS) by a decisive 94-54 scoreline on Saturday afternoon at Charles R. Rugg Arena. With the win, the Blazers improve to 15-9 (12-4 CCS) and will bring an eight-game winning streak into next week's CCS Tournament.
From the outset, Belhaven controlled the game, outscoring Agnes Scott in every quarter. They established an early lead with a 23-8 first-quarter advantage and never looked back. By halftime, they extended their lead to 52-31. A strong third quarter (26-11) further widened the gap, and they cruised through the fourth to seal the win.
Ebony Gayden led the way with 25 points on 8-of-10 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds. Savannah Hailey added 18 points, while Katelyn Coleman chipped in 12 points. Hayle Poindexter recorded eight points and 10 rebounds in 15 minutes of action.
Belhaven showcased their dominance in the paint with 54 points scored inside and a 55-29 rebounding edge. Their bench also played a crucial role, contributing 52 points compared to Agnes Scott's 14.
Defensively, Belhaven forced 33 turnovers and capitalized with 32 points off those mistakes, applying pressure throughout the game.
Next up, the Blazers will host No. 6 Huntingdon on Tuesday night in the First Round of the CCS Tournament. Tipoff is set for 5:00 PM.
