Terry Sets Career-High as Belhaven Rolls to Win at Berry

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Belhaven men's basketball team earned a 90-70 victory inside the Cage Center on Wednesday afternoon. The mid-week tilt featured 19 points from senior Neal Terry, a continued scoring surge from Dan Robinson, and the return of CJ Minton, who appeared in his first career game as a Blazer after missing the first 10 contests.

Belhaven weathered an early push from the home side and quickly settled into rhythm. After trading baskets in the opening minutes, the Blazers began to control tempo through defensive pressure and transition opportunities.

A key early stretch came midway through the half when Belhaven rattled off an 11-2 run. Dan Robinson knocked down a fast-break three, DJ Jones converted at the free-throw line, and CJ Minton scored his first career basket as a Blazer on a strong finish in the paint. Moments later, Robinson added another transition layup to give Belhaven its first multi-possession lead.

Belhaven extended that advantage during another decisive stretch late in the half. Neal Terry sparked the run with a fast-break dunk and followed with multiple finishes in the paint as the Blazers forced turnovers on consecutive possessions. Benjamin Stewart added a fast-break layup, and Terry capped the run with a putback to stretch the margin to double digits.

The Blazers closed the half with continued execution. Kam Beverly knocked down a three from the wing, Robinson finished a late drive and Minton hit a buzzer-beater jumper to send the team into halftime with a 53-41 lead.

Belhaven maintained control coming out of the break, responding calmly to an early push by Vikings. Terry opened the half with a tip-in, and although the margin was briefly trimmed to single digits, the Blazers answered with timely shot-making.

The defining stretch of the second half came around the 10-minute mark. Robinson drilled a pull-up jumper, then followed with a transition three to ignite a 13-3 run that pushed the lead from eight to 18. DJ Jones added a three of his own, and Benjamin Stewart knocked down a timely triple as Belhaven regained full control of the game.

Defensively, Belhaven continued to disrupt passing lanes and protect the paint. Terry recorded multiple blocks and controlled the glass, while Beverly and Jones forced turnovers that led directly to fast-break points. Charleston Wallace added a strong finish inside during the run, and Braylon Dame capped it with a fast-break three to make it 83-65.

From there, Belhaven closed the game efficiently. Terry added two more paint touches to push his total to a career-high, Robinson sealed the win with a pair of late free throws and the Blazers drained the final minutes with disciplined defense to secure the 90-70 victory.

The Blazers will enjoy two weeks off before heading to Austin College for a New Year's Eve game with the Kangaroos. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM.
