Women's Basketball Rolls to 93-66 Win at Home

JACKSON - Belhaven improved to 3-0 with a 93-66 win at Rugg Arena on Wednesday evening. Fifteen different players scored, and Belhaven finished with 56 points in the paint and 53 points from the bench.

First Quarter

Belhaven opened strong with quick baskets inside and steady pressure. The Blazers pushed the pace early, scoring in transition and creating multiple second-chance looks. A late three helped extend the margin, and Belhaven led 25-18 after the first ten minutes. Savannah Hailey set the tone with early work on the glass and in the paint.

Second Quarter

Belhaven's defense tightened, and the offense continued to attack the rim. The Blazers forced turnovers in the backcourt, turned several into fast-break points and built a double-digit lead. Hailey converted a tip-in and a jumper, and Ny Jones added a three to keep the momentum rolling. Belhaven won the quarter 23-13 and took a 48-31 lead into halftime.

Third Quarter

The Blazers delivered their best stretch of the game. Belhaven outscored the visitors 30-12 in the quarter while shooting more than 65 percent from the field. Hailey scored on multiple drives and put-backs, Jasi Jenkins added inside scoring, and the defense repeatedly converted steals into layups. A string of fast-break baskets from Allison Liddell, Kyla Farmer and Tra'Shaylah Wilson stretched the margin past 30. Belhaven led 78-43 heading to the fourth.

Fourth Quarter

With the lead well in hand, Belhaven spread out the minutes and continued to push the tempo. Ramya King opened the frame with a transition layup, and the Blazers added more scoring from Amanda Walker, Avery Gwin and Neeli Magee. Belhaven closed out the win while maintaining control on the glass and limiting second-chance opportunities.
