MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Belhaven Men's Soccer team saw its 2025 campaign come to a close on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-2 to Maryville in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Semifinals at the MC Soccer Complex.
The Blazers came out strong in the match, striking early when
Courtland Williams found the back of the net in the fifth minute to give Belhaven a 1-0 lead. The Blazers extended their advantage early in the second half as
Louie Richard scored in the 51st minute to make it 2-0, continuing Belhaven's early momentum.
However, the Scots mounted a late comeback, scoring in the 77th and 80th minutes before converting a penalty kick moments later to take the lead for good.
Belhaven outshot Maryville 16-11, including a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal, and held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
Matt Smith led the team with four total shots, while
Samuel Hadley,
Avery Anders, and
Ciaran Colvin each contributed multiple attempts in a balanced offensive effort.
In goal,
Danny Bahena registered four saves in the final outing of his historic career with the Blazers.
The loss ends Belhaven's 2025 season with a 10-6-4 overall record, including a 2-2-2 mark in CCS play, as the Blazers reached the conference semifinals for the second consecutive year.
