DEMOREST, Ga. - The Belhaven Men's Soccer team came up short on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 4-2 to Piedmont in their regular season finale.
Piedmont struck early with three first-half goals to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. Belhaven responded after the break with a strong offensive push.
Samuel Hadley led the comeback effort, scoring twice in two minutes with the first in the 67th minute off a pass from
Graham Harris and the second assisted by
Avery Anders in the 68th.
The Blazers continued to press, but a late Piedmont goal sealed the 4-2 result. The Blazers outshot the Lions 25-13 and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeeper
Danny Bahena recorded one save while Piedmont turned away nine shots to keep Belhaven from completing the rally.
With the loss, Belhaven moves to 9-5-4 overall and finishes conference play with a 2-2-2 record which earns them the No. 3 seed in the CCS tournament where they are set to host Huntingdon in the Quarterfinal round on October 29th.
