Blazers Sweep Berea in Final Conference Series

CLINTON, Miss.  - The Belhaven Baseball team wrapped up their conference regular season slate in style on Saturday as they took down Berea on both ends of a doubleheader to sweep the weekend series.

GAME ONE

Belhaven took the opening game of the day 9-6 as both teams took advantage of the long ball to generate offense on the day. After both teams went scoreless in the opening two innings, the Blazers picked up three runs in the 3rd on an Owen Abney home run.

Both teams then traded runs in the 4th before Berea tied the game with a three-run blast in the top of the 6th. A sac fly from Eli Britt put Belhaven back in front but once again the Mountaineers brought the score back level. Preston Conlee put Belhaven in the lead with a two-RBI hit and then Josh Neutze sealed the game in the 8th with a two-run homer.

The Blazers' offense then exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the 3rd as Preston Conlee, Owen Abney, Noah Foster and Tristan Pearson all drove in runs. Berea got on the board with a pair of runs in the 6th but the Blazers answered with four runs in the home half of the frame including one an RBI single from Shawn Mitchell-Harvard, his first career hit.
