COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Belhaven Softball team split their Saturday doubleheader at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic, falling to #7 Linfield 9-1 before bouncing back with a 5-1 win over #23 Concordia-Wisconsin.
GAME ONE
The Blazers' opener on Saturday got off to a rough start as Linfield jumped out a 7-0 lead in the 1stinning. Belhaven held the #7 ranked Wildcats to just two runs in the 2nd but the damage was done. In the 5th inning,
Colby Hollinger delivered a strong highlight for the Blazers as she hit her first career home run for the program having joined as a transfer this season.

GAME TWO
After the tough start, the Blazers bounced back in a big way in their second game of the day, taking down #23 Concordia-Wisconsin, 5-1, behind a strong start in the circle from
Kennedy Carruth and a three-inning outburst offensively.Â
Following Carruth holding the Falcons' bats quiet through three innings,
Allie Gordon got Belhaven on the board with an RBI double in the bottom half of the 3rd frame.
Mary Moore Widemire then doubled the advantage with an RBI hit in the home half of the 4th inning.Â
The Belhaven offense put the game to rest in the 5th with a three-run frame including RBI hits from
Ellie Jones,
Natalie Parker and
Anna Caime. The Falcons pulled a run back in the 7th but Belhaven closed out the win to move to 10-1 on the season.

Now 10-1 on the year, the Blazers will close out their trip to the NFCA Leadoff Classic tomorrow against #1 Trine at 12:30 PM and the College of Saint Benedict at 2:30 PM.
