JACKSON, Miss. - Both the Belhaven Men's and Women's Tennis teams got their 2024 spring campaigns underway on Friday as they host the University of Mobile at Parham Bridges. It was a tough start to the year for both programs as they each fell to the Rams on the day.
WOMEN'S MATCHES
The Women fell 6-0 on the day with
Evey Moore and
Lily Grace falling in doubles action 8-0 while
Kendra Williams and
Natalie Goggans were also beaten 8-0 in doubles play.
Evey Moore took the top matchup in singles action and was beaten 1-6, 1-6 with
Lily Grace falling in similar fashion in the second single matchup. Rounding out the group were Williams and Goggans who both lost their respective matches 6-0, 6-0.
MEN'S MATCHES
The Belhaven Men were beaten 9-0 by the Rams on Friday.
Abraham Gonzalez and
Justin Humphrey fell in the top doubles matchup 8-5 while
Jesus Diaz and
Josiah Leggett were beaten by a similar scoreline in the second doubles matchup.
Hayden Lassiter was paired with
Mark Breedlove and
Paul Stagger was paired with
Bernard Jackson with both duos falling 8-0 on the day. In the singles matches,
Abraham Gonzalez kept the top matchup close falling 7-5, 6-8, 9-10.Â
Belhaven will return to action on February 17th as they travel to Raymond, Mississippi to take on Hinds Community College and East Central Community College.Â
