BEREA, Ky. - Belhaven's CCS Tournament run came to a close on Saturday in the Championship as the Blazers were downed by top-seeded Berea, 80-60, to end the 2023-24 campaign. Belhaven took down No. 3 Piedmont and No. 2 LaGrange in rout to Saturday's tournament final.

A quick 7-1 run by Berea put the hosts in front early, but the Blazers responded with eight of the game's next 10 points to draw within one. The Mountaineers close the quarter strong to take a 27-16 lead after 10 minutes of play.
Xhiir Burgess cut the lead to seven with a layup at the 8:39 mark of the half, but a 16-3 run by Berea gave them a 20-point lead at the break.
Belhaven and Berea kept pace with each other in the second half as both teams scored 36 points over the final 20 minutes, but the Mountaineers took the 80-60 win to secure a CCS Championship sweep (regular season and tournament).
Burgess filled the stat sheet once again for the Blazers, totaling 22 points and 17 rebounds to lead Belhaven.
Ebony Gayden joined Burgess in double figures with 12 points.
The Blazers wrap up the 2023-24 season with a record of 10-17. The 10 wins marks the third-straight year that Belhaven has notched double-digit victories in a season.
