Neal Terry Becomes All-Time Blocks Leader in Win Over Berea

JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team grabbed a dominant conference win over Berea on Saturday, 82-66, to pick up their fourth straight victory in CCS play and compete the regular season sweep over the Mountaineers.

After Berea secured the opening basket of the game, the remainder of the contest was dominated by the Blazers who picked up their a double digit victory for the third time in their last four conference games and led for nearly the entirey of the contest.

Berea's opening basket was followed by a 15-2 run that put Belhaven in front by 11 with just over 14 minutes left in the half. Over the next four minutes, Belhaven opened up their largest lead of the game, 25-7, an 18-point gap.

The visitors closed the gap in the waning minutes of the opening half, working their way inside single digits at the intermission. The Blazers continued their strong play in the second half though, quickly restoring the double-digit advantage inside the first minute of the period and not letting Berea back inside the mark for the remainder of the contest.

Belhaven was led on the day by Jacob Reese who tallied his 13th double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Luke Couch picked up 15 points while Jonathan Lucas finished the game with a double-double as well at 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Saturday's win saw history as well, as Neal Terry picked up four blocks which brought his career total to an all-time program record of 111. Terry's 111 blocked shots have come in just 50 career games and surpasses the previous record of 110 set by Bobby Johnson from 2005-07.

Belhaven's win was their 16th of the season and 8th in conference play this year, surpassing both of last year's marks which included the regular season and conference tournament. The win marks the first time Belhaven has hit 16 wins in a season since the 2013-14 campaign.

The Blazers will close out the regular season next Wednesday as they host Huntingdon at 5:30 PM inside Rugg Arena before turning their sights on the CCS tournament.
