MADISON, Miss. - Belhaven Baseball Head Coach Andrew Gipson has been named the Four-Year School Coach of the Year by the Mississippi Baseball Coaches Association, announced at the organization's Southeastern Coaches Clinic this week in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
Coach Andrew Gipson earns the recognition following a successful first season at the helm of his alma mater's program. Gipson led the Blazers to a 25-17 including a 12-5 regular season record in conference action which secured them the No. 2 seed in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) tournament. Gipson's 25-17 record in Year One marks the best debut season for a Belhaven Head Coach in program history.
In his first season, Gipson coached CCS Pitcher of the Year
Brett Sanchez and CCS Player of the Year
Owen Abney who helped lead the Blazers' success and picked up D3baseball.com All-Region nods. Sanchez was also named a D3baseball.com All-American following the 2024 season.
A native of Oneonta, Alabama, Gipson is a 2011 graduate of Belhaven University and played for the Blazers for four seasons where he was a part of three Conference championships, four NAIA Regional/Opening Round tournaments, and one NAIA World Series appearance.Â
Coach Gipson will look to lead the Blazers to new heights in 2025 as the program chases its first conference championship since joining the NCAA and Division III.
