JACKSON - The Belhaven Women's Basketball team fell just short of an upset win on Saturday as they took on Emory, who is receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, and fell narrowly 53-48.

Despite the defeat, it was a strong performance for the Blazers, particularly on the defensive of the ball. Belhaven limited Emory to their lowest-scoring game of the season with just 53 points and kept an Eagles' team that is shooting over 40% from the field so far this season to just a 23.7% clip on Saturday.

Offensively, Belhaven improved from the first half to the second half and shot 41.7% in the fourth quarter as their upset bid came up just short. Ebony Gayden had a strong day with a game-high 23 points as well as 10 rebounds, good for a double-double. Kiersten Hudson also chipped in eight points in the win.

Next for the Blazers is a trip to Marshall, Texas where they will face off against East Texas Baptist University in non-conference action. Tipoff against the Tigers is set for 6:00 PM.
