JACKSON -
Kaci Craft continued her recent string of success with a pair of goals on Tuesday night to lead Belhaven to a 2-0 win over Millsaps in the 2024 edition of the Riverside Derby. With the win, the Blazers have now won double-digit matches in three of the last four seasons.
Belhaven wasted no time finding the opener as Craft headed a free kick past the Majors' goalkeeper in the ninth minute to put the Blazers in front. The senior forward added a second in the 34th minute to double the lead heading into the half.
The Blazers held serve across the final 45 minutes of play to secure their second straight win in the rivalry series. It proved to be a dominant night for Belhaven who outshot the Majors, 18-1. Millsaps also did not record a shot on goal or corner kick opportunity.
With the two goals, Craft has now scored in each of the last three matches while eight of her team-leading nine goals have come in the month of October. The Clinton, Mississippi native currently ranks second in the CCS in the goal-scoring category.
The Blazers will be back at home on Saturday, October 19th for Senior Day against Asbury. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM.
