JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team cruised past Huntingdon on Tuesday in a midweek conference clash on the back of a six goal performance, including five goals in the second half.
Micah Benson fired Belhaven in front early with a far post finish in just the 8th minute with an assist from
Emma Antonoplos. The Blazers would continue their dominance following Benson's opener but were kept to just a 1-0 lead at the break.
On the other side of halftime, Belhaven's attacking output exploded however as
Nneka Udeh doubled the Blazers' advantage in the 54th minute before an outside of the box goal from
Macy Mathers made it 3-0 Belhaven in the 56th minute.
Ally Davis grabbed her second goal of the season in the 72nd minute helping to put the game away but Belhaven would tack on two more goals for good measure.
Kaci Craft fired a rebound into the top corner for a 5-0 Blazers' lead in the 86th minute before grabbing a brace with a 90th minute goal on a feed from
Abby Jordan.
The win pulls Belhaven to 1-1 in conference play and 6-3 overall this season. The Blazers also extend their home unbeaten streak to four matches and have outscored opposition 24-0 over that stretch.
The Blazers return to action on Saturday as they host LaGrange in a CCS contest. Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM.
