LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Belhaven Baseball team saw their weekend at the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament come to a close on Saturday as they fell to Piedmont and Maryville in the double-elimination format.
GAME ONE
The Blazers faced off against Piedmont in a Winner's Bracket game to open the day and battled in a tight contest where runs were hard to come by. Both teams were held scoreless through the first two frames before Piedmont opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the 3rd.
Belhaven was able to get on the board in the 5th inning as
James Muse opened the scoring with a solo home run before
Hunter Estes tied the contest with an RBI single. The Lions however got a quick answer in the bottom half of the same frame with a run to retake the lead before adding an insurance run in the home half of the 6th. Despite Belhaven getting baserunners aboard in the final frames, the Blazers were unable to come up with the late-inning rally.
