ROME, Ga. - The Belhaven Women's Tennis team saw their 2023 campaign come to a close on Thursday as they fell to Huntingdon College in the Quarterfinals of the Collegiate Conference of the South Women's Tennis Championship.
The Blazers, who were the 5-seed in the postseason bracket, fell 3-1 to the Hawks across doubles and singles action. In doubles play, the Hawks and Blazers saw only one matchup as the Blazers took down Huntingdon's top pairing 8-5.
Judith Mills and
Evey Moore combined for the victory, the lone win in the match for Belhaven.
In singles play, Huntingdon took the #2 matchup as 6-1, 6-1 as well as the #4 match 6-2, 6-2.
Lily Grace fell in a closely contested #3 match dropping the first set 6-3 before bouncing back to level the match in the second set. The decisive third set however went the way of the Hawks and clinched the set for #4 seeded Huntingdon.
Judith Mills was leading the #1 matchup 6-7, 6-2, 5-1 but the match was abandoned due to the other results.
