JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Softball team finished off the season sweep of rival Millsaps on Tuesday as they took down the Majors in both ends of their midweek doubleheader.
GAME ONE
Belhaven got off to an early start in the opening game on Tuesday night as they pushed across a run in the opening frame as
Madi Miller delivered a leadoff single and advanced to second on an error. Miller then swiped third base before scoring on a sacrifice fly by
Kennedy Carruth.
After both clubs went scoreless in the 2nd inning, Belhaven added three runs to their lead in the 3rd in an inning that started on
Madison Miller's leadoff hit. With both
Madison Miller and
Madi Miller reaching to start the frame,
Allie Gordon grabbed an two-RBI double and then scored later in the frame on
Sydney Runnels' RBI double.
Kennedy Carruth continued to dominate the Majors in the circle keeping the hosts off the board and then was able to help her own cause in the 5th inning with a solo home run, her 4th of the year.
Belhaven tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the 6th as
Allie Gordon picked up a 2-run home run before
Natalie Parker closed the win out for the Blazers in the 7th.

GAME TWO
Once again the Blazers started off the game on the right foot as they picked up a run in the top of the 1st inning after
Allie Gordon reached on a single and took advantage of a passed ball to score.
Gracey Baucom got the start in the circle for the Blazers and limited opportunities for the Majors early in the contest. The Blazers grabbed two more runs in the top of the 3rd as
Kennedy Carruth and
Ellie Jones went back-to-back with solo home runs.
The Blazers led 3-0 through 5 innings and grabbed their 4th run of the game in the top of the 6th on an RBI double by
Kennedy Carruth. Belhaven would put the game out of reach in the top of the 7th as they put up an impressive 7-run frame.
Mary Moore Widemire broke the inning open when she came up with the bases loaded and delivered a bases clearing single. In the same frame,
Carley Fudge grabbed a big hit with a 2-RBI double.
Ashlynn Jenkins was called on to finish out the game and allowed just a run in the 7th frame as the Blazers won their 20th game of the season.
