ATLANTA, Ga. -
Kennedy Carruth of the Belhaven Softball team has earned Pitcher of the Week honors in the Collegiate Conference of the South for the second straight week as announced by the conference on Monday.
Carruth was stellar in a pair of starts for the Blazers over the past week as she finished 2-0 as the pitcher of record. The Louisiana native got the win in a complete game performance against Carroll University at The Spring Games on March 14th as she finished with seven innings pitched, allowed just eight hits and two unearned runs. Carruth also racked up seven strikeouts en route to the 6-2 Belhaven win.
She followed that performance with possibly one of the best of her career on Saturday as she shutout Wesleyan College in the Blazers conference opener. Carruth held the Wolves scoreless in six innings as the Blazers cruised to an 8-0 run rule victory. Carruth allowed just one hit and one walk while recording every one of the 18 outs across the six innings via strikeout. That marked a career-high for the junior pitcher.
Carruth and the Blazers return to action on Saturday, March 25th as they host Covenant College in conference action.
