CLERMONT, Fla. - The Belhaven Softball team ended their trip to The Spring Games tournament in Florida with a Tuesday split as they fell in a tight game against Plymouth State University 1-0 before taking down Carroll University 6-2 to close out the week.
GAME ONE
The Blazers found themselves in a pitcher's duel against Plymouth State in the first game of the final day in Florida.
Natalie Parker was stout in the circle holding Plymouth to just a pair of hits on the day but those two hits would prove to be enough as Plymouth knocked off the Blazers 1-0.Â
Belhaven put together six hits in the contest coming from six different hitters but were not able to string together enough offense on the day to knockoff Plymouth State.Â

Despite a low-production game to start the day, the Blazers bounced back in their final game of the tournament as they knocked off Carroll University 6-2 behind timely hitting and a strong outing in the circle from
Kennedy Carruth.Â
The Blazers got the offense going early after Carroll took the lead in the top half of the 1st inning. Belhaven responded in the bottom of the frame with two runs as
Allie Gordon delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game ahead of a solo home run from Carruth to put Belhaven in front.Â
From their the Blazers never looked back as they added a 3rd run in the bottom of the 3rd inning on

Macy Ziskin doubled the Belhaven advantage in the 4th with a two-run homer. An error would drive in another 4th inning run for Belhaven who led 6-1 through 6 innings. Despite Carroll producing a run in the final frame, the Blazers cruised home with the win, their 8th of the season.

The Blazers will return to action on Friday, March 17th as they open up play in the Collegiate Conference of the South against Agnes Scott. Belhaven will host the Scotties in a double header Friday ahead of a two-game slate Saturday against Wesleyan.
