HOUSTON, Texas - The Blazers closed the weekend with a tough 9-3 loss at the hands of the University of St. Thomas giving the Celts a clean sweep in their season series.

After a quiet first two innings, St Thomas got on the board in the bottom of the third with a three-run double that came with the bases loaded. The Celts followed it up later by a second RBI double which gave the Celts a 4-0 lead heading into the fourth inning. The hosts continued to push the their lead further in the bottom of the fifth after a solo shot put them up 5-0.

The Blazers managed to plate their first run of the game in the top of the sixth inning when Nathan Herron delivered an RBI double. The Celts immediately responded though with an RBI single in the sixth followed a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh.

The Blazers tried to rally and got two more runs in the top of the eighth including one on a solo home run by pinch hitter, Preston Conlee, his second of the season. In the end though Belhaven came up short as St. Thomas grabbed the series finale 9-3.
