MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The 2023 edition of Belhaven Volleyball concluded on Tuesday night as the Blazers fell in straight sets to Maryville in the Collegiate Conference of the South Quarterfinals.
The hosts picked up the first five points of the match to grab the momentum early. Maryville continued to add separation en route to a 25-12 win in the opening set. The Blazers began to settle in in the second set but could not quite get level as the Scots led throughout.
Belhaven used a 4-0 run to cut the lead to 23-21, but Maryville picked up two out of the next points to secure another set victory. Despite being down 2-0, the Blazers continued to fight, looking to force another set and extend their season. However, the Scots went on a 5-0 run midway throught the set to take control at 15-8. Belhaven drew within five, but it was not enough as Maryville earned the win by taking the set, 25-16.
Megan LaCour led Belhaven with six kills while
Rylee White added five.
Kayla Robinson recorded 11 digs to pace the Blazers.
Belhaven wraps up the 2023 season with a record of 9-22 (7-9 CCS) in
Kody Bivins' second season at the helm.
With the conclusion of the season, the Collegiate Conference of the South also released their All-Conference teams for the campaign.
Caitlin Torok was named to the CCS All-Sportsmanship team in her final season with the Blazers.
