Belhaven Grabs Another Clean Sheet in Scoreless Draw

JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's Soccer team grabbed their third clean sheet in as many matches as they finished with a scoreless draw against LeTourneau in non-conference action on Thursday.

In the early going, both teams generated a shot on goal with the Blazers coming from a set piece that fell for Julian Carreira in just the third minute. In the 5th minute LeTourneau got their chance on a good shot that forced Max Rudolph into a save.

LeTourneau thought they scored the opener in the 26th minute when a set piece ended with the ball in the back of the net but it was quickly ruled out for offside against a YellowJackets attacker.

Late in the first half Belhaven got their best chance when a scramble in the box nearly led to a deflected effort getting across the line before a last ditch save by the LeTourneau goalkeeper.

Both teams struggled early on in the second half to create clear cut chances but as the minutes ticked down the play became more stretched. The Blazers found a couple of chances to get runners in behind with the best chance falling to Casey Tolliver but good goalie play prevented a pass from setting up a chance.

Despite not picking up the win, Belhaven has now kept opposition off the scoreboard for 270 straight minutes to open the season with three straight clean sheets. Belhaven returns to action on Saturday when they host ETBU at 12 PM.
