MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team suffered their first defeat of hte season on Saturday after being downed on the road by Berry College.
The hosts started the game on the front foot and took a lead just over a quarter of an hour in with a 16th minute goal. Later in the first half the Vikings would get a second and found their third of the game in just the 43rd minute.
With a 3-0 deficit at the break, Belhaven was able to regain some momentum in the second 45 minute period. The Blazers would pull a goal back in the second half when
Lauren Samford snagged her first tally of the season in a 65th minute effort assisted by
Lizbeth Eslava.
Belhaven continued to battle as the second half wore on but weren't able to generate more chances on net and fell by the 3-1 scoreline.
Berry out shot the Blazers 15-6 on the day with 11 shots on target to the Blazers' three.
Julianne Wilson registered eight saves across the 90 minute contest.
The Blazers will look to bounce back next Thursday when they host LeTourneau and continue non-conference action.Â
