JACKSON, Miss. - Just a couple of days after their 5-0 rout of Sul Ross the Belhaven Men's Soccer was back on the turf at Belhaven Bowl Stadium to host Fontbonne University. The two clubs battled to a scoreless draw as the non-conference portion of the Blazers' schedule continues.
In the first half it was the Blazers who had the better of the momentum and their first chance come through
Adrian Eaglin whose tight angle shot rattled the crossbar less than five minutes in. In the 21st minute the Blazers worked another opportunity from a corner kick but the ball was headed over and out of play.
It seemed Belhaven might find the breakthrough just moments later when Christian Hernandez rounded the goalkeeper but his shot was cleared at the last second by a Fontbonne defender. Despite a trio of strong chances, the Blazers went into the halftime break scoreless and without a shot on target.
Coming out for the second half the Blazers survived some early pressure from the visitors before working to generate more chances on goal. Late on, Belhaven had a few shots on target the best of which came in the final minute when Christian Hernandez found space to fire a shot but it was saved.
The Blazers will return to action next Thursday when they host LeTourneau University in non-conference action.
