JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Volleyball team continued their 2022 season on Wednesday as they took on Huntingdon in the first match inside Rugg Arena this season. The Blazers fell to the Hawks in straight sets.
The first set started as a back and forth contest with neither team grabbing a strong hold on the match through the first few serves. However the Hawks went on a significant run to take a sizeable lead taking the set 25-11 in the end. Belhaven had a rougher go in the second set with Huntingdon jumping out to a quick 8-1 lead before securing the set by a 25-7 scoreline.
The match ended after three sets when Huntingdon once again grabbed a quick advantage. Belhaven was able to string together a few points late on but the visitors lead was a bit too much to overcome with Belhaven falling 25-13 in the final set.
On the day,
Emma Gardner led the Blazers with seven kills while
Ellie Jones totaled six kills of her own.
Jeslian Vazquez also picked up five kills in the match.
Miriam Ateca continued to add to her team lead in assists with 13 on the day while

The Blazers will be back in action on Saturday when they host Berea at 12 PM and Agnes Scott at 4 PM inside Rugg Arena.
